WESTMINSTER CINEMATIC ARTS (WCA) is a non-profit organisation dedicated to using the arts, film art in particular, for social change.
Our MISSION is to raise awareness, send messages, educate, provoke thought, shift consciousness and spur action through the power of the Cinematic Art.
Our OBJECTIVES are:
-
To produce, promote and exhibit short films and documentaries addressing and exploring diverse social issues such as loneliness, depression and social exclusion amongst people with disabilities and disadvantages and thus promote good health and well-being.
-
To lead public debate at the screenings about loneliness, depression and social exclusion and thus promote dialogue for social change and personal dignity.
-
To provide "on set" training for young people from disadvantaged backgrounds giving them the opportunity to gain new skills and knowledge.
Our AIM is to work on improving community awareness and attitudes, overcoming disadvantages and discrimination.
Film is a powerful way of telling a story, and an effective way of getting a message across. Film, more than any other medium, can tell powerful, emotional stories that move the public to take action.
